Glen Sands​

Working at SMB Medical Billing over the years has been a huge blessing in my life. We have had the opportunity to partner with so many wonderful people across the country. I enjoy meeting new people, learning their story, & discovering how we can help them. Not to mention, I take great satisfaction in getting a new client and watching their reimbursements increase substantially as we handle their billing correctly and with diligence. Many times I hear, “I wish I had signed with SMB sooner; this is a game changer! I have been married to, the love of my life, Susan for 33 years. We have two grown sons, that share my love of fishing. Traveling is a big part of what we like to do. “Never going to the same place twice is our motto”, as there is so much to see and experience. We both enjoy eating at new restaurants, reading, going to movies, and being with family and friends. Together, Glen Sands (my brother-in-law) and I started SMB Medical Billing in 2001. We wanted to have a billing company that exceeded all expectations. Our focus has always been on being fast, extremely accurate and focusing on Follow Up! I love working with our clients and making sure we take all the headaches off their plate so they can focus on patient care. What gets me up in the morning, besides my love of coffee, is meeting new people and watching them settle into our SMB family. I say “family” because that is what our clients become to us over the years. I have been married to my husband Greg for 23 years. Together we love to watch the KC Chiefs and Royals, eat at fun restaurants and connect with family and friends. Our favorite get-away destination is the beach! We have two grown married daughters. They live here in the KC area with their spouses, so we feel blessed. We have recently become grandparents for the first time, and we could not be more thrilled! In fact, we have our second one on the way soon, and we are very excited! I’ve been accused of spoiling on more than one occasion, and I plead guilty to that!

I’ve been with SMB Medical Billing since 2008. I love being a part of a company who only has the best intentions for our clients and their growth. I know the importance of running a profitable business and how important knowing your bottom line is. I enjoy working with our doctors daily on improving their practice. My husband and I are huge Kansas City Chiefs fans. You will find us at every home game cheering them on. When we aren’t there we are planning our next beach get away!

New Accounts Manager

I started my role in new accounts with SMB in 2016. My main focus is to ensure a quick, easy, and painless transition from your prior company to using SMB to service your billing needs. I work with your office to get your account set-up with government and commercial insurances for claims submissions. Do you have contracting/credentialing questions? I’m your person! I am well-versed in contracting and credentialing and am here to help guide you through any questions or issues that may arise. My husband, David, and I live on 10 acres and spend our time chasing around our toddler. We are loyal Chiefs and Royals fans and I’m trying to raise my daughter to be a Missouri Tiger (but my Wisconsin husband has other plans). Life is busy, but it’s fun and we try to spend it together.

I’ve been with SMB since 2009. My role is to train our new employees and try to keep up with the industry’s ever-changing billing rules. Along with this, I also conduct the HIPAA training for our staff. I’ve been married to my husband for 26 years. We have 2 grown children and our first grandchild arrived in 2022. To spend time with my family and friends – playing cards, camping, traveling, watching the Royals or Chiefs or just hanging out are my hobbies. This year’s new adventure for us is building a home.

Director of Customer Service & Human Resource Liaison

I started with SMB in January of 2004. My main position with the company is managing the Customer Service and Delinquent Patient Accounts departments. In addition, my duties include being the Human Resource liaison. SMB Medical Billing handles accounts in 35 states across the country. We take care to handle all the incoming calls with care and compassion as we know we are a reflection of the Practice and our valued clients. My husband and I have been married 32 years and have 6 grandchildren. Being a GIGI is my favorite hobby! Our wish list includes an Alaskan cruise to visit the whales and hopefully we can get to that sooner rather than later!
